September 2016 - Ongoing
Street Style Surgery delivers creative workshops that introduce young people to new artistic skills while encouraging confidence, collaboration and self-expression. Working as a freelance facilitator, I lead workshops in schools and colleges on an ad hoc basis, often as part of special events or end-of-term celebrations.
These sessions are fast-paced, energetic and highly participatory, frequently involving groups of around 90 young people. Designing activities that are engaging, accessible and easy to adapt for large groups is key to ensuring every participant can contribute and enjoy the experience.
Previous workshops have explored a wide range of creative processes, including custom bag design and printmaking, sculpture and construction using recycled materials, and projects inspired by African art and design. Through each session, I encourage participants to experiment with new materials and techniques while developing their own ideas in a fun, supportive and collaborative environment.
