I worked with Hackney Arts on its Kids Who Can! Easter holiday programme, delivering creative workshops for children at the Shoreditch Nomadic Community Gardens. Inspired by the surroundings and the ethos of environmental creativity, the sessions focused on imaginative ways to reuse everyday materials through fun, hands-on making.
Projects included transforming drinks cartons into wallets, creating jewellery from recycled magazines, producing prints from takeaway boxes and making decorative wreaths from egg cartons. Through these activities, children explored creative problem-solving while discovering how discarded materials could be reimagined as artworks and functional objects.
Hackney Arts is a social enterprise that connects local artists with communities through workshops, exhibitions and creative events across the borough. Over the years, I have collaborated with the organisation on a variety of projects, delivering both community-based and commercial workshops for participants of different ages and backgrounds. Across each project, my focus has been on creating engaging, accessible experiences that encourage creativity, curiosity and confidence.
