I collaborated with the London Symphony Orchestra on their Inclusive Showcase performance. Inspired by the Thames, a group of musicians performed a specially devised piece to an audience of around 150 people.
Before the performance began, I invited the audience to become active participants. Each person received a small white box, an object collected from the riverbank, and a selection of wax crayons. Using the box as a canvas, they created visual responses to both the music they were hearing and the object they were holding, translating sound and touch into colour and mark-making.
After the interval, the process was reversed. The audience's artworks were displayed to the musicians, who used them as the basis for a live improvisation. This created a unique dialogue between the river, the audience, and the performers, with each influencing the other in unexpected ways.
It was an extraordinary event, and I was honoured to have been invited to contribute to such a collaborative and imaginative performance.
